Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Let’s talk about Wynwood, the art district located in downtown Miami, Florida. People from all backgrounds visit Wynwood to experience the art, the music, the fashion, and, of course, the food. There’s no doubt about it, amazing things take place here. These past few years, there’s been an extra glow about the city of Miami–the light of the Gospel being shed across the city through Vous Church.

Just two years ago, Vous Church, lead by Pastors Rich and Dawncheré Wilkerson, launched itself in Wynwood, holding services out of Jose De Diego Middle School every Sunday, turning an auditorium into a house of worship. Now hosting thousands of attendees among multiple services, Vous also offers workshops from training for digital media and blogging, to worship and leadership training. The courses are free and open to the public.

The most recent of their accomplishments: Vous College.

Partnered with Southeastern University, Vous College offers students the opportunity to obtain their two year degree, believing that “Excellence in education extends beyond the classroom and incorporates a curriculum that also develops character, creativity, and genuine community.” With 70 programs to choose from, students will earn their 60 credits, which includes some credit hours earned at the church itself.

We as the church and body of Christ are to serve as a beacon of light as God intended us to be. We look to our ministries to guide us in creating opportunities for ourselves and others in sharing the work and wonder of God.

With just a seed of faith, the Wilkersons have built a home, a platform, and a community of fellowship in Miami, which is nothing short of a miracle.
